◆A hobby is not only fun but also useful.一個(gè)愛(ài)好不僅僅是有趣的而且是有用的。
not only...but also表示“不但……而且”，用于連接兩個(gè)表示并列關(guān)系的成分，著重強(qiáng)調(diào)后者，其中的also有時(shí)可以省略。
eg：Not only Mr. Lin but also his son joined the Party two years ago.不但林先生兩年前入黨了，他兒子也在兩年前入黨了。
He plays not only the piano but also the violin.他不僅彈鋼琴，還拉小提琴。
【注意】連接兩個(gè)名詞作主語(yǔ)時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞要根據(jù)but also 后的名詞決定單復(fù)數(shù)，即遵循“就近原則”。
Not only the teacher but also the students were against the plan.不僅老師，學(xué)生們也反對(duì)那個(gè)計(jì)劃。
◆A hobby can help build your confidence and make your life more colourful.好習(xí)慣可以幫助你建立自信并且使你的生活多姿多彩。
build one's confidence意為“樹(shù)立某人的信心”。
◆It can help you make more friends and teach you to work well with others.它能幫你交更多的朋友，還能教你和其他人很好地合作。
make friends with意為“與……交朋友”。
